Ghent is a fantastic area! There is always something happening here! On the South end,the Hague is a picturesque body of water with an arching land mass with high end homes lining the shore. The Hague also provides an unobstructed, beautiful view of the Chrysler Museum. Monticello Ave runs the length of the eastern side. The North end of the neighborhood has some interesting boundaries. 23rd street is listed on Google as the last street included in Ghent. There’s Jeff Robertson Park, Weyanoke Bird and Wildlife Sanctuary, Lambert’s Creek and the Mallory Country Club. Access to Interstate 264 is going to be straight down Brambleton Ave. Locals will know to turn right onto Waterside Drive which also heads right out to I264. Trying to head North to Interstate 64 or 564? Your best option is to head up Granby to one of the many entrances. Trying to get to Naval Station Norfolk? Head right on up Hampton Boulevard.
The Weyanoke Bird and Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1979 when Audubon members noticed a Purple Gallinule on the land. This was such a super rare visitor to our area, the Norfolk and Southern Railroad gave the land to the Cape Henry Audubon Society. Many birds frequent the park because it’s neighbor, Lamberts Creek is a wonderful place for them to feed. Ghent is park-rich with Jeff Robertson Park, Westover Memorial Park, Graydon Park, Redgate Playground, Yellow Fever Park, Greenway Court Park, Medical Center Park, EVMS Greenspace, Raleigh Avenue Playground, Riverside Park, Beechwood Park, Botetourt Gardens, Ghent Dog Park, Van Wyck Mews, and Olney Road Park. The residence of Ghent are serious about their parks!
All of the coolest, hippest businesses are in the area. There’s several Starbucks of course. If you like independent coffeehouses, Fairgrounds coffee is on Colley Ave. Shopping is eclectic. Enjoy large grocery stores, Harris Teeter, Farm Fresh and Fresh Market. Colley avenue has the Naro Cinema. They play a mix of independent films and oldies. The Ghent neighborhood has plenty to offer in the way of restaurants! There’s Chipotles, YNot, No Frill Bar & Grill, Noodles and Company, Kelly’s Tavern, IHOP, The Skinny Dip, Luna Maya, Papa John’s, Subway, 7-Eleven, Chanellos. Don’t forget about The Taphouse, Red Dog Saloon, Colley Cantina, Peck and Pour, Norfolk Coffee and Tea Company and Doumars! Doumars is a local landmark that has been around since 1904 known for its barbecue and ice cream cones!
The schools for the area are W.H. Taylor Elementary School, Blair Middle School, and Granby High School. Old Dominion University is quite close by. That opens up a bunch more opportunities for food and nightlife. Ghent is a very popular neighborhood with alumni and professors!

Listing and selling properties for our clientele is the mainframe of our business at EXIT Realty with one special feature added; sponsoring! Our salespeople have a unique advantage to earn huge revenues from helping to build the company. Here’s how: If John sponsors Mary into EXIT Realty whereby she is recruited by management as a sales agent and she, for example, generates $100,000 in gross earnings annually, he receives an mount equivalent to 10% of this as a special bonus paid out by EXIT Realty Corp. International as her transactions close. This amounts to $10,000 for that year and would total $100,000 in 10 years. If John sponsors in nine others with the same sales production (again as an example), his bonuses would amount to $1,000,000 in that same time frame, and that’s on top of his own commissions! Could you do anything with this?
WHAT ARE THE CHANCES f you having $1,000,000 in the bank in 10 years based on what you’re presently doing?

EXITAgents have a huge advantage in selling your house faster and for more money! Our site gathers tons of buyers from all over Coastal Virginia! This is great for you because we get more buyers which turns into more offers, which turns into better price, a faster sale and better terms and conditions for you! Our broker is generous and makes eListings available to us! It is an extremely effective marketing tool which generates beautiful social media friendly marketing pieces including downloadable fliers, virtual house tours, websites, digital magazines and QR codes! All the hard work of making it beautiful is done already. So your EXIT Realty CentralREALTOR® spends most of their time looking for buyers for you!
Some real estate companies in Coastal Virginia offer to sell your house for a lower fee. And we totally understand the desire to pay less in fees. But would you rather pay less or end up with more money in your pocket? In today’s market, we are getting multiple offers, many of them are above asking price! Having a well trained REALTOR® is worth it in so many ways.
We do the traditional marketing that other agents do, because that is expected of us so often. But we recognized early on that the trend was shifting. The percentage of buyers going online to find their next home has been closing in on 100 percent for a while now. Most real estate companies are scrambling to get their properties onto the various real estate websites out there. We are already there of course. But we are head and shoulders above the rest thanks to our online marketing system!
Would you like to get information about your home? How much could you sell your home for? Could you rent it out AND buy a new one? Have the prices in your neighborhood skyrocketed or plummeted? We have the data! With just a little bit of information we can get that right to you! No obligation! We are happy to do it for you!
Willoughby is a extremely cool neighborhood! It’s West of Ocean View, South of the Chesapeake Bay, East of the Hampton Roads Bay Bridge Tunnel and more Chesapeake Bay, and North of Willoughby Bay and Naval Station Norfolk. Those are some basics. Willoughby is a very striking land feature because it’s a spit! It is a mass of land that juts out over the water and is surrounded on three sides by Chesapeake Bay. Beaches surround this area. If you want your own beach, this is one of the ways you can get it in Coastal Virginia. Shifting sans are continually adding land to the spit in a westward direction. Norfolk created breakwaters and sand replenishment to prevent erosion of the North side beaches. Interstate access is as simple as driving out of the neighborhood. Interstate 64 runs right through Willoughby.
The main attraction of Willoughby is obviously the beaches and the water. While you definitely have plenty of that to enjoy, you have several public parks you can enjoy! There’s Captains Quarters Nature Center and Park, Sarah Constant Beach Park, the interestingly named Monkey Bottom Park, Community Beach Park and Ocean View Golf Course!
Willoughby Inn Seafood Restaurant is near the tip of the spit and has been there for many years. Most of the locals like it. South of the Interstate is Sunset Grill. This one is highly rated and specializes in seafood. The Ocean View Fishing Pier has it’s own restaurant, and as you can imagine, fishing. Greenies is a legendary Willoughby favorite. And the Thirsty Camel has been around for a long time. There are not too many businesses to ruin the quiet Willoughby feeling. But no neighborhood is complete without 2 7-Elevens. A lot of your shopping will be done further south in Ocean View.
If you have a boat, you’re in luck! there are a bunch of boat slips to the south protected from the bay weather. If you need information for the boat slips, contact me and I will put you in touch with the management.
Ocean View Beach Park is great every day and often they have festivals there with bands and entertainment. The backdrop is for events here is the beautiful Atlantic Ocean!
Schools for Willoughby are ocean View Elementary, Northside Middle School and Granby High School!
Just a heads up for you. Don’t call the area Ocean View in front of any of the home-owners here. They will be offended.
Here are the stats for the neighborhood at the time of this article. The median home for sale in the Willoughby area is $236,800. Like a lot of Norfolk, the prices are varied. The bottom end comes in at $49,000 and the high end is $1,599.000. Average days to sell the home were 77, so not bad at all. the oldest house for sale was built in 1910 and the newest was this year! Again, a varied supply of houses here. We can get you some more relevant data if you like. Just please let us know!
I would love to show you more about this neighborhood! I can get you in to see any of the homes for sale here. I can call the listing agent and schedule a showing for you.
